  • My neighbor's simple act of kindness just saved my entire week

I'm a single parent with two kids under 10. This week has been brutal, both kids sick, I'm sick, work is insane, and I've been surviving on crackers and spite.
  • Yesterday I got home from work to find a container on my doorstep. Inside was homemade soup, fresh bread, and a note that said heard the little ones weren't feeling well.
  • Made extra. No need to return the container. Signed from Apt 4B. I don't even know who lives in 4B.
  • I've probably seen them twice in passing. I sat on my kitchen floor and cried while eating that soup because it was the first hot meal I'd had in three days that wasn't reheated takeout.
  • This morning I found another container with cookies and a note that said for the kids when they feel better.
  • You're doing great, by the way. I still don't know what they look like. But I'm going to find them and thank them properly when I'm not a walking disaster.

  • Sloth_grl That is lovely. It sounds like a wonderful person. I am so glad that you encountered them. I hope things get better for you and your kids. Hugs
  • OP Objective_Play_1765 Thanks so much ♥It really did make a difference, just a little kindness can turn a rough week around.
  • Responsible-Let-6832 Totally, stuff like that hits differently when someone's just barely keeping it together. Even small gestures can mean the world.
  • Ceilidh_ That's utterly gorgeous OP, and so are you. What a beautiful heart you have. The days where our kids need us that way go by so fast. You've got a neighbor who recognized what you're going through and cared enough to want to do something to lighten your load. That's a beautiful thing. Probably they were in shoes not too different from your own at some point. I'd wager it's someone whose own children are grown and flown, who doesn't mind the familiar sounds of kids being kids, even if the
  • Magdawhitebeard You are Loved!!!!
  • PigslsEqual What a wonderful neighbor. One way you might think about to show appreciation is when the kids are well enough, they could write a brief thank you note for the cookies? In addition to your own thanks for their thoughtfulness, of course.

  • StockIndependent808 My daughter came out of the bathroom at Target one day with her screaming, flailing child. There was a note in her basket that said something along the lines of, you got this! And a $20. It's been years and she still tells people
